Imani Community Food Distribution

The Imani Food Pantry has been in operation for over 15 years feeding needy families in the South Shore Community. We currently have three different providers for the food pantry; Chicago Greater Food Depository, Anti-Hunger Federation, and charitable donations.

Through the Greater Food Depository, over 200 families are served once a month. With the help of volunteers, an 18-wheeler truck is unloaded at our facility and the food is distributed to assure that each person leaves with approximately four bags of food for their household.

We have partnered with the Wing’s Ministry/ Trader Joes on a weekly basis to enable us to reach out to 150 people in our community. Our van travels to the Trader Joes Food Store, loads up the food and brings it back to our site for distribution. This keep our on-site pantry operating.

This Department of Human Services sends clients to our on-site pantry to receive emergency groceries. In addition to these assisted programs, we also provide Holiday groceries to the community on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you would like to help us by donating food or even volunteering, please contact us at connect@Imanicommunity.org.
